A fuck shit stack of sweary songs

My last collection of sweary songs began with some vintage a cappella filth about cocksuckers. For balance, I’ll start this one with The Fourskins’ winning ditty ‘Her Vagina’ (most audio that follows is VNSFW):

Want ruder? Harry Roy and His Orchestra sang about ‘My Girl’s Pussy’ almost a century ago. Warning: this one has serious earworm potential:

(Comic artist R. Crumb and his Cheap Suit Serenaders introduced me to the song.)

A lyric for our times: ‘Bloody Mother Fucking Asshole’ by Martha Wainwright:

And one from Jarvis Cocker: ‘[Cunts Are Still] Running the World’:

Or you could call them the world’s biggest pricks:

Lightening the mood, Kat McSnatch’s ‘You Are a Cunt’:

Little-known disco funk classic ‘The Girl Wants to Fuck’ by Blowfly, aka Clarence Henry Reid:

Garfunkel and Oates, in ‘The Loophole’, sing about ‘the sex that God can’t see’ (reminiscent of ‘Back Door Lover’ in Josie and the Pussycats):

Someone once suggested Reggie Watts’ parodic ‘Fuck Shit Stack’ as the Strong Language signature tune. We’re spoilt for choice, but this track has top swearing and metalinguistic asides:

If you’ve had your fill of work, here’s a chain-gang-style theme song by Dan Reeder:

‘Fuck You,’ croons Jamie Foxx:

‘Fuck Everything,’ raps Jon Lajoie, and he means everything:

Everyone, according to Steve Coogan, is a bit of a cunt sometimes:

We’re bastards and we’re gits, we’re wankers and we’re shits
But sometimes there is just one word that absolutely fits

If high-speed profanity is your thing, ‘Useless Man’ by Leigh Bowery’s band Minty has you covered:

Flight of the Conchords’ ‘If You’re into It’ is not sweary at all, but it does escalate quickly and delightfully into indecency:

A sign language interpreter steals the show at this live rendition of ‘Eatin’ Pussy, Kickin’ Ass’ by Wheeler Walker, Jr. (I don’t know her name, sorry):

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds’ version of ‘Stagger Lee’ elevates swearing to a brutal art form:

For the last couple we’ll go vintage again. ‘Uncle Bud’ and ‘Deacon Jones’ by zydeco legend Boozoo Chavis:

And finally Butterbeans and Susie’s innuendo-filled ‘Elevator Papa, Switchboard Mama’:

Butterbeans: I put a nickel in your slot and it rained all night.
Susie: Well I’m not to blame, Butter, if you didn’t put it in right.

Thanks to readers who suggested a couple of the songs above, either on Twitter (we’re @stronglang) or in comments to my earlier compilation. We also featured sweary songs in posts about the Four Femmes, Explicit Bowie, and Flight of the Conchords.

Not sure when the Four Skins recorded but back circa 1970 there was a Sydney, Australia band called (what else?) The 69ers whose signature song, to the same tune of “Carolina”, had the opening lines of “Nothing could be finer than licking her vagina in the morning”. More lyrics along those lines which maybe others can remember–it was nearly 50 years ago!–though there was something along the lines of “nothing could be sweeter …” etc etc

Didn’t know about this band, Chips. All I could find by them on YouTube is a live (and lively) version of the Kinks song ‘Harry Rag’, unfortunately.

God I was there! From Wiki, a reference to the song I cited:

“Following their festival performance the Melbourne Truth newspaper ran an article describing them as the Clown Princes of Sunbury in the article, “Are they obscene?”, and ran a competition asking whether readers thought they were indeed, obscene. The accusation was based partly on the lyrics of the song, “The 69’ers Theme”, which was played often during their live sets and partly due to press reports that Knox, while on stage during a March concert, had invited female audience members backstage for sexual purposes.”

The live version of the Penis Song (from the Python reunion gigs a few years ago) contains two new verses.

(content warning: proper swearing, synchronised homophobia, Italian subtitles)

(Actually, my mistake, the synchronised homophobia’s cropped from the end of that clip.)

I hadn’t seen or heard this! And I like the new verses. Good show.
